EDB (Electronic Deposit Box)
EDB is an Electronic Deposit Box used in Banking industry for Customers to deposit cheque or cash into their accounts. EDB is similar to a Drop box but using Bar code technique for higher reliability & security. Bank will provide the envelopes with Bar code numbers. Customers put the cheque or cash in the envelopes, write the details such as Account No., cheque details, amount, etc. They then take out one copy of the details and drop the envelopes into the box. EDB will then read Bar code No., and print the receipts for Customers.
Bank will take out the cabinet inside EDB and process the transactions accordingly. By this, Customers need
not to wait for the service in the line. Several thousand EDBs are now installed in the banks, department
